After dancing with Wayne McGregor’s Random Dance for 8 years, Laila has come to prominence for her choreographic work and received a Rayne Fellowship for Choreographers in 2006. She was an Associate Artist at the Royal Opera House between 2009 and 2012. Credits for theatre and opera include choreography for A Doll’s House, Theatre Royal Bath, movement direction for Therese Raquin, National Theatre and for Days of Significance, Royal Shakespeare Company. As a performer she regularly collaborates with other artists. Creations include Hold Everything Dear, a piece for an ensemble of nine performers; the solos At-any-moment-something-else (for Theo Clinkard), Out of sight in the direction of my body, waiting fleeing, The Wayside and Imprint; the duet Between the Shingle and the Dune and Sense of Self – a full length piece co-authored with Mélanie Demers.
